OUR STORY

In the 1930’s there was Beck’s Dairy, owned and operated by Paul Beck Sr., his wife, Estelle, and later their two sons, Paul Jr. and Gerald. Native Yorkers may remember the West York Dairy, formally located on Adams and Stanton Street, and recall the ice cream parlor that was shaped like a gigantic ice cream bucket. Toil and determination went into years of ice cream recipe ingredients passed through the generations, but quality always was the most important factor. In 1979, Jerry decided to reinvigorate the old ice cream recipes and open a restaurant serving Pennsylvania Dutch food and delicious ice cream. Many people still share their fond memories of the player piano in the restaurant, which was owned and operated by Jerry until he decided it was time to pursue wholesale ice cream full-time. In 1990, Jerry relocated the manufacturing to Lewisberry Road, where he produces 1,000 gallons of ice cream every week! Today, Jerry is still churning 5-10 gallon batches at a time, focusing on providing high-end gourmet goodness to restaurants, businesses, weddings and of course – friends and neighbors who stop by for a sweet treat! Deanna, one of Jerry’s three daughters, attended college in Florida, where she began dating her now husband, Justin. Throughout their courtship, Deanna and Justin would often frequent local ice cream shops in Daytona Beach for long walks on the beach (I know, so cliche) to share a pint of ice cream together. Since ice cream was such an important part of their story, they have a passion to ensure that Beck’s Ice Cream will continue to bring people together. In 2017, Deanna and Justin decided to settle down in York, PA and help expand the family business. They purchased a vintage ice cream trailer to bring everyone’s favorite dessert to your special events!
